BenVoda's Top 5 Restaurant Picks For Valentine's Day

Right after Christmas and Chinese New Year, the next big occasion would be Valentine's Day, the day when most girls rate their boyfriends and 'fight' an unspoken war with their fellow sissies. Not too sure about you gentlemen out there, but I do bask in the joy of the occasion but has never believed in declaring my love towards my partner on just one particular day.

We all know how stressful Valentine's Day can be for us guys. All the planning of dining location, staycation and even gift ideas, could potentially kill us. Maybe I can give you a hand here with a few personal dining locations (in chronological order starting from the least expensive), considering the fact that I do not really have expensive taste buds.

Perfect location for the romantic-goers. Imagine having dinner by the sea, with great view of Singapore's landscape and looking up into the sky filled with stars, you also get to see planes taking off every 15 minutes or so. If you are lucky, there is also a live band!

The best timing to visit this place is around 5:30pm, when it is not too hot (after all it is non-sheltered and open space) and you and your love one are just in time to watch the sun set. Definitely a great spot to take your Valentine Day's shot! What I also really love about this place, is the affordable prices, nothing extravagant, and the fact that it is not known to many people! This means that you get to spend a peaceful Valentine's Day for a change.

Still keeping it affordable, I have Jubilee Coffee House & Bar next in line. This bistro is the sister company of The Coastal Settlement, whose price range is on the higher end of the spectrum. At Jubilee's they serve Asian Fusion food, with find touches of local taste in it, even with Western dishes!

If you are looking for a unique dining option, Jubilee's could just be the perfect choice! Take a look at its vintage interior, which reflects perfectly the olden Singapore houses. Of course, located right at Changi and in an old double-storey military house, you're about to find yourself travelling back in time.

Who knows? Maybe your partner and yourself may dress up in Cheongsam (for the ladies) and Changsan (for the men) and spend a lovely and out-of-the-box Valentine's Day!

Taking a step up the ladder, I would be recommending this bistro call Caffé B, located at Marina Bay Sands. The though of MBS would have definitely turned you off, thinking "Didn't he said it would be affordable?!"

Trust me, they are.

CaffĂ© B is a Japanese-Iatlian fusion restaurant, where you get to savour contemporary and premium Italian cuisine, infused with Japanese finesse. Not to mention its fine stellar stocked with fine Italian and unique Japanese wines. Do check out their 3-course set lunches as well, which are really worth the money (around $40 max), given the quality and quantity of food that you are getting!

Of course, the price does not compromise the atmosphere, I mean just look at the ambience! Your love and yourself would never believe just how affordable everything is here, given the package that you are receiving. Once you are done dining, you may continue to savour your wine in the bistro itself, or you may head upstairs to a semi-open space to relax at their bar.

I am really very excited to introduce to you Cook And Brew, my favourite restaurant for 2 years already. There are few factors that contributed to the choice: Nice ambience, affordable price and great scenic view of Singapore/CDB area from the restaurant!

If you were to google the place, you would be amazed at how nicely done-up the place is and the quality of service they provide. I really cannot find any words to describe how in love I am with the place. In the day, natural lighting fills up the whole restaurant that makes it a perfect spot Instagram lovers, and when the sun sets it transforms into this dimly-lited and romantic space.

Cook And Brew is famous for their extensive menu of cocktails and food (both local and Western dishes). My personal favourite would be their Slow-Roasted Canadian Pork Chop (600g), as shown above. It is not your typical tiny slab of pork chop, but a whole chunk of it! Yumz.

Of course, they do provide lunch and dinner set menus as well. And if you have a great appetite, your partner and yourself may order a serving of Surf and Turf, and you would be good with a dinner for 2! Pst, their beef literally melts in your mouth and trying getting them at medium-rare, the perfect way to savour beef.

Last on the list would be Sky on 57 by Celebrity Chef Justin Quek. Truth to be told, this option is not exactly cost-saving, but I placed in the my Top 5 Picks because it is value-for-money. Like the name suggest, this restaurant is located at the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands, featuring terrace-bar with an amazing view of Singapore, while being served with an Asian-Fusion menu.

My family and I do frequent this place a lot, especially for their high-tea, which I highly recommend you gentlemen to bring your partner to if you can. And, it is not terribly expensive. In fact, they cost around the same as what you are paying at TWG.

It would be marvellous to pamper your darling on this very special day at this classy restaurant, which won't burn a big hole in your pocket. Just imagine talking about life of the both of you, while sipping on some wine while overlooking Singapore as the cool breeze brushes past both your faces. Romantic~
